Thunder Bay curlers improve to 5-0 at Northern Ontario championship

Curling fans will get a sneak preview Saturday of Sunday's Northern Ontario Scotties final match-up.

Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville rink and Sudbury's Tracy Fleury foursome will be looking to send a message to each other as they wrap up round-robin play at the women's provincial curling championship in Timmins.

The two teams have clearly been the cream of the crop this week.

McCarville continued her perfect run, routing hometown favourite Gale Wiseman 14-0 in just five ends to improve to 5-0. The 33-year old skip, a four-time Ontario champion, scored a rare six-point end to open her match, then stole three in the second to go up 9-0 en route to the lopsided victory. McCarville's team includes lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and third Kendra Lilly.

Fleury (4-1) clinched her spot in the final with a 9-3 win over North Bay's Laura Payne (1-4).

The winner earns a berth at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts next month in Alberta.
