Thunder Bay rink ousted in Medicine Hat

It wasn’t how Krista McCarville wanted to bow out of the Canada Cup of Curling.
It wasn’t how Krista McCarville wanted to bow out of the Canada Cup of Curling.

The 28-year-old Thunder Bay skip surrendered steals in the second, third and fourth end to Saskatoon’s Stefanie Lawton, en-route to a 9-2 loss in the 3-4 Page Playoff at the Medicine Hat tournament.

McCarville, lead Sarah Lang, second Kari MacLean and third Ashley Miharija just couldn’t get back on track. The foursome finally got on board in the fifth, but Lawton struck back with a deuce in the sixth, and put it away with three in the eighth.

Lawton will take on the loser of Saturday’s 1-2 Page Playoff between Cheryl Bernard and Shannon Kleibrink in the semifinal.

Bernard is up 5-4 with the hammer heading into the 10th end.
