Thunderwolves drop second straight on road

TORONTO – The York Lions scored three straight goals in the second and third on Saturday night and eked out a 4-2 home-ice win over the Lakehead Thunderwolves.

Reid Jackman tied the game 4:43 into the middle stanza and Josh LaFrance netted the winner seven-and-a-half minutes later as the Wolves dropped their second straight on a three-game road trip that wraps up on Sunday against Ryerson.

Daniel Del Paggio and Scott Gall each scored their fifth goals of the campaign in the first to stake the Thunderwolves to a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Defenceman Jack Goranson had the Lions other goal, beating Devin Green at 11:17 of the opening period. Green faced 33 shots. Alex Fotinos made 25 saves in earning the win.

The red-hot Lions improved to 9-2-0 and remained in top spot in the OUA West. The Wolves fell to 4-5-1 with the defeat and are tied for sixth with the Brock Badgers.
