The Lakehead Thunderwolves didn't close out the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule on a winning note.

But they did managed to make it five straight games collecting at least a point.

Reid Jackman scored with one second left in the three-on-three second overtime Saturday night, earning the host York Lions a 3-2 win to close out first-half play.

Brennan Dubchak opened the scoring in the final minute of the first, but York's Trevor Peterson and Kyle Campbell tallied 62 seconds apart in the first three minutes of the middle stanza and the first-place Lions took a 2-1.

It didn't last long.

Tyler Kunz responded with a goal for Lakehead at the 5:16 mark of the second to even the score.

The two teams played a scoreless third and the first overtime, a four-on-four affair, solved nothing.

Devin Green got the start in net for Lakeead and saved 40 of 43 shots, Chris Perugini earned the win for the Lions (10-4-3), making 36 saves.

Next up for the Thundrewolves (2-10-4) is a pair of non-conference games against Guelph at Fort William Gardens on Dec. 29 and 30, rare weekday games.

Lakehead will start the second half six points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the OUA West.
