THUNDER BAY – For the first time in nearly five years, the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team is back in the U Sports top 10.

The Wolves, winners of six straight, are ranked 10th in the lasted top 10 poll, which combines media votes and a new ELO rating system that combines a number of statistical calculations. Lakehead was actually ninth in media polling, picking up zero ELO points to drop them to 10th.

Led by first-year coach Andrew Wilkins, the Wolves are coming off a three-game road trip that saw them capture all three games, including a tough overtime win against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night.

The Wolves were last ranked in the top 10 in March 2014.

The 7-2-0 team will host unranked York on Friday and Saturday night at Fort William Gardens.
