The Superior Collegiate Gryphons were all but anointed this year’s high school senior boys basketball champions.
Entering
Friday’s final against Churchill, the Gryphons had rolled through the
competition this season, sporting a perfect 16-0 record.
But that’s why games aren’t played on paper.
The
Trojans, 10-6 to this point, stunned Superior Collegiate 67-35, forcing
a decisive, winner-take-all second game in the series on Tuesday.
Brandon Myketa scored 26 to spur the upset, with Tim Baxter and Lloyd Claridge scoring a dozen apiece.
Alex Robichaud, who has committed to play at Lakehead next season, could only manage 12 in a losing cause.
