Trojans hit century mark in win

The Churchill Trojans weren’t holding anything back on Tuesday night. Hunter Janssens scored 24 and Tim Baxter chipped in 17 as the Trojans (3-4) walloped the winless St.

Hunter Janssens scored 24 and Tim Baxter chipped in 17 as the Trojans (3-4) walloped the winless St. Patrick Saints 102-29, crossing the rarified air of the century mark in high school basketball action.

Kofi Agbo had 15 points for the Saints.

At Hammarskjold, Alex Sebesta knocked down 19 and Gordie Savela had 16, as the Vikings got by the St. Ignatius Falcons 47-38. Eric Trevisan had a game-high 19 for the Falcons.

In junior boys action, the Trojans were at it again, remaining undefeated with a 64-35 romp over the Saints. Jordan Kelly had 21 for the victors, while the Saints were led by Mike Moskalyk’s 14.

At Hammarskjold, St. Ignatius got balanced scoring, and paced by Callum Kennedy’s eight-point effort, downed the Vikings 37-27.

Meanwhile, at Superior Collegiate, the Gryphons rode an 18-point afternoon from Joseph Pang and defeated Westgate 43-34.

On the volleyball court, in senior girls action, it was Superior 2, La Verendrye 1; St. Ignatius 2, Churchill 1; Hammarskjold 2, St. Patrick 1 and Westgate over Churchill 3-0.

In junior girls play, La Verendrye beat Superior (Blue) 2-1, St. Ignatius swept Churchill 3-0, St. Patrick doubled Hammarskjold 201 and Westgate slipped past Superior (Black) 2-1.
