Turnovers plague Thunderwolves women

A nine-point lead after 30 minutes wasn't enough for the Thunderwolves women to pull out a road win Friday night against the York Lions.

A nine-point lead after 30 minutes wasn't enough for the Thunderwolves women to pull out a road win Friday night against the York Lions.

Fourth-quarter turnovers proved to be Lakehead's downfall – they made 28 in total – who fell 69-64 to drop to 3-4 with one game remaining on their first-half schedule.

Lindsay Druery was the top scorer for the Wolves with 16, while Kelsey Bardsley added 14 and Carolyn Fragale an even dozen.
The Wolves trailed by four at the half.

Llyandra Kerr and Brittany Szockyj paced the Lions with 19 apiece.

"Turnovers in the fourth quarter killed us tonight. We played three great defensive quarters of basketball and got our offense going in the 3rd to get the lead we needed to put York away," said LU coach Jon Kreiner is a release.

"We really struggled to move the ball and get what we wanted and it cost us a game. We also struggled to get to the foul line which is something we've been pretty consistent with. We've got to throw that one away and get ready for Laurentian."
