Ultimate Gymnastics provincial squad mines medal haul

Six members of Ultimate Gymnastics provincial squad returned home from a Gymnastics Ontario qualifier this past weekend after mining an impressive haul of precious medals.

The Super Hero Meet, hosted by Brampton’s All Star Sports Centre, was held Feb. 8-11 and featured athletes from many of the top clubs across the province.

The local squad combined to make an incredible 30 trips to the podium, the maximum number they could physically make.

Doing their part were Christiana Collins, who took first place across the board in the Level 9, Age 14-15 category; Emily Ukrainec, grabbing the silver medal on vault along with a number of third place finishes at Level 9, Age 14-15; Tiana Lombardo, competing in the Level 8 - Age 13 category, earning herself fourth place finishes on Vault and Floor, along with a 6th place finish All Around; Caroline Di Felice who impressed in the Level 7 – Age 13 bracket taking the bronze on Vault, while adding fourth place tallies on Uneven Bars and All Around; Olivia Arena, nailing down bronze medals on Uneven Bars and Floor while finishing 5th All Around for Level 6 –Age 14 and Sarah McChristie, who brought home a 4th place finish on Floor as well as 5th place All Around for Level 6 - Age 13.

Up next for the team is a trip to King City, Ontario to further their quest to qualify for the Ontario Championships to be held this spring.
