Carter Hutton not only got the shutout, but showed he’s got a heart of gold.
The Nashville Predator’s netminder on Saturday fired a puck from behind his net that was deflected into the stands and hit a young fan in the face.
With 32 seconds left the officials decided to end the second period early. As he was skating off the ice, the Thunder Bay-born Hutton handed his stick to an on-ice official, who subsequently passed it over the glass to the youngster.
Hutton and the Predators went on to blank the Florida Panthers 5-0, a 22-save performance. It was his second shutout of the season, the fourth of his four-year career.
