THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay Border Cats are staring down the end of the 2015 campaign

The Border Cats fell 4-2 to the Duluth Huskies before 1,369 fans Saturday night at Tbaytel Park in their penultimate contest on the Northwoods League schedule.

The Huskies took an early lead, plating a run off a throwing error by Thunder Bay second baseman Grant McKown as he tried to finish off what would have been an inning-ending double play.

After Thunder Bay got back to level courtesy of a Huskies fielding miscue, Duluth got back out in front in the fourth and fifth innings.

An Alex Wojciechowski home run restored the Duluth lead and then run-scoring hits from Jimmy Heck and Wojciechowski gave Huskies starter Jonathon Ludwig (1-0) all the support he would need to pick up the win.

Border Cats starter Jimmy Murphy (2-1) was saddled with the loss, tagged with three earned runs over six innings.

Dan Rizzie drove in the other Border Cats run with a single in the fifth.

Thunder Bay (15-20) and Duluth (20-15) will take the field Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. as the two clubs close out the regular season.

Claw marks: Border Cats outfielder Jared James will head into Sunday second in the league with a .366 batting average, just shy of Mason McCoy from the La Crosse Loggers who is hitting at .369.
