Lakehead Women’s Volleyball is pleased to announce the addition of six-foot setter Vanessa Masters of St. Ignatius High School.
Lakehead Women’s Volleyball is pleased to announce the addition of six-foot setter Vanessa Masters of St. Ignatius High School.

Masters is the Falcons captain and has established herself as one of the dominant forces in volleyball in the northwest region. She has orchestrated the team's second straight SSSAA championship and their recent success capturing the NWOSSAA title this past week in Fort Frances, which also qualifies the team for OFSAA in Ottawa and Nepean March 7 to 9.

Masters has competed in the Superior North Volleyball Club now for the second straight year, where she has improved dramatically with a great attitude and hard work to become the region’s premier setter.

Her game has made great strides, and her dedication and passion to play at the next level has grown with many extra hours of practice and work to achieve her goal of becoming a member of the Thunderwolves.

Masters’ mother, Lesley, and father, Scott, are both teachers locally and LU Alumni.

Her brother, Jonathon, is active in the hockey and baseball communities and also attends St. Ignatius.

At six-feet, she will provide ample size at the net for Lakehead. Her setting is improving daily and she will continue to work toward being a contributor for the Thunderwolves as she adjusts to the next level of play.

Masters will be seeking her degree in Applied Bio-Molecular Science.

“Vanessa is an amazing multi-sport athlete with a strong Academic Standing,” said Thunderwolves head coach Chris Green. “She has committed to Volleyball as her passion.
“She trains every day with a desire to get better. Her energy and commitment is second to none. She will be fortunate to have some strong and experienced players to guide her as she adjusts to life as a Student Athlete.”

“I am looking forward to the upcoming season and am extremely excited to be a part of the team,” Masters said. “Chris has helped me to improve over the last 2 years and I will continue to get even better.”
