It wasn’t the start Chris Green was looking for.

But it was never going to be an easy task either. Facing the OUA regular-season champion of a year ago, the Lakehead Thunderwolves managed to pull out a single set, but it wasn’t nearly enough to set aside the York Lions on Friday night.

The Wolves extended the Lions to a fourth set, but ultimately fell, losing 25-19, 25-5, 20-25 and 25-16 in their 2012-13 debut.

Vanessa Chorkaway led the way for LU with 15. 5 points on 14 kills and 1.5 blocks, while Jorie Daymond has 12 kills and half a block.
"The first set was key in tonight's game. We battled toe to toe, gave up a five-point run, battled back and then gave up another one. The first set exactly what we expected the weekend to be about. We had to pass off of York's tough serving. We gave up those runs in passing,” Green said in a release.

“The second set exemplified that point and really was a non-issue. First, third and fourth sets showed our weakness in a specific area.
