Volleyball squad falls again

The OUA’s best team proved their might, Sunday afternoon, as the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 to the McMaster Marauders at Burridge Gym in Hamilton, Ontario. Set scores were 25-13, 25-16 and 25-21.

Senior middle Karla Brayshaw (Thunder Bay) had nine points to lead the ‘Wolves in scoring for the third consecutive game. Brayshaw added eight digs in a balanced effort. Freshman Jorie Daymond (Banhaven, Ontario) added eight points and nine digs while freshman setter Jenna McDonald (Winnipeg) had a strong overall game, leading Lakehead with 18 assists and 13 digs.

McMaster’s attack was paced by senior Genevieve Dumas (North Bay, Ontario) and freshman Meghan Jamieson (Chatham, Ontario) who had 10 points apiece.

Senior setter Laura Cobb (Chatham, Ontario) led the OUA West-leading Marauders with 24 assists.

The Thunderwolves (1-14) tough three-game southern swing concludes their conference road schedule as they return to the friendly confines of the C. J. Sanders Fieldhouse for games next Saturday and Sunday against the York Lions before finishing their season on Feb. 12 and 13 against RMC.
