Thunder Bay's Brennan Wark has punched his ticket to Sunday's semifinal at the Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship.
Wark, who finished round-robin play with a 9-3 mark, good for second place, await the winner of Saturday's Manitoba-Nova Scotia tiebreaker, the winner of the semifinal earning a date with Alberta's Brendan Bottcher in Sunday night's final.
The Lakehead skip and his squad – lead Joel Adams, second Kyle Toset and third Kristofer Leupen – the latter of whom was named a second team all-star at the Napanee, Ont. event – wrapped up a successfl round robin on Friday, knocking off New Brunswick's Josh Barry by a 12-7 count.
Wark landed three in the first, then after giving up two in the second, rammed home four in the third to take a 7-2 lead and control of the match for good. He put it away in the ninth with a pair, evening out the deuce Barry had scored in eight to pull within three.
The two sides shook hands after the ninth.
