It’s win-or-go-home time for the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team.

Kyle Schwende scored a pair of first period goals and Keaton Hartigan stopped all 27 shots directed his way as the host Waterloo Warriors drew all-important first blood in the opener of their best-of-three OUA West quarterfinal on Wednesday night.

Waterloo took the game 5-0.

Kyle Sonnenburg, Kurt Thorner and Blake Chartier also scored for the Warriors, who will look to complete the series sweep on Friday night at Fort William Gardens.

Game 3, if necessary, goes Saturday night.
