Keith Tessin scored the winner 11:16 into overtime and the Wisconsin Wilderness took a commanding 2-0 lead Monday night in the Superior International Junior Hockey League final.
The tally earned the expansion Wilderness a 3-2 win over the visiting Dryden Ice Dogs, a day after opening the best-of-seven series with a 6-0 triumph.
Tom Paine opened the scoring for Wisconsin late in the first. Ian Schachte tied it 6:37 into the second, but seven minutes later Matthew Mulqueen replied for the Wilderness, giving them a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Thomas Greene scored the equalizer for the Ice Dogs midway through the third.
Game 3 is scheduled for Dryden on Thursday night, with Game 4 on tap on Friday. Game 5, if necessary, would be played Sunday in Wisconsin.
