Wilderness throttle North Stars

Wilson Housley scored a natural hat trick in the second period and added assists in the first to lead the Wisconsin Wilderness to a second straight win over the Thunder Bay North Stars.

Jeremy Johnson and Mike Dietrich staked Wisconsin to a 2-0 lead after one and Housley, the son of former NHLer Phil Housley, upped the lead to 5-0 after 40 minutes.

Michael Orosey, who has goals in four of his past five games, netted the lone North Stars goal on the power play 1:19 in the third, but Shane Topf and Steve Hughes added insurance for the Wilderness and Wisconsin took the game 7-1.

It's the first of 12 straight road games for the North Stars (23-17-5) to finish out the season.

Elsewhere Austin Lewis and Tyson Holder, with a pair, sparked a three-goal, third-period comeback on the road as the Dryden Ice Dogs (22-20-5) captured a 4-3 win over the expansion Iron Range Ironheads (6-36-2).

Benjamin Brouillard and Shamus O'Neill scored first period goals and assisted on the other's to give the Ironheads an early 2-0 lead.

Thomas Greene cut the lead in half at 17:18 of the first, but Christophe Andre restored the two goal lead with the only goal of the second, with just 23 seconds left to play, to give the Ironheads a  3-1 lead heading home.

At Fort Frances, Dane Morin scored with 21 seconds to go in overtime to give the Sioux Lookout Flyers (21-25-1) a 3-2 win over Fort Frances.

Jacob Nolan, with the only goal of the opening period, and Brett Wur, also scored for the Flyers. Ryan Wildman and Jon Carlson, who tied the match 2-2 with just over five minutes to play in the third, were the Lakers (31-11-6) goal scorers.
