Wilkins nets pair, Wolves return to .500

Andrew Wilkins will never be confused with a goal scorer. But Lakehead’s newly minted associate captain does have soft hands when needed.

Andrew Wilkins will never be confused with a goal scorer.

But Lakehead’s newly minted associate captain does have soft hands when needed. On Saturday Wilkins, who scored four goals in each of his first two seasons with the Thunderwolves, netted a pair of markers to lead LU to a 3-1 road win over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

Matt Caria scored the other Thunderwolves tally, a first period penalty shot that put the Wolves up 2-0 less than five minutes into to the evening contest.

Defencemen Mike Quesnele and Mitch Fillman picked up a pair of assists apiece for Lakehead, who clawed back to .500 and a 2-2-0 record, making a winner of Jeff Bosch for the first time in OUA play.

Lakehead stays on the road next weekend, playing a pair against the York Lions.

The Wolves pulled into a fourth place tie in the OUA West with Brock and Windsor.
