Northern Ontario is a win away from capturing the Canadian Masters Curling Championship.
The Thunder Bay foursome of Gordon Williams, Ed Pederson, Ernie Surkan and Ed Koivula doubled Nova Scotia 6-3 in Saturday’s semifinal and will take on Manitoba in Sunday’s title match.
The Williams rink tied the game 3-3 with a pair in the fifth, then scored steals in the sixth, seventh and eighth ends to put the game away.
The Manitoba squad, skipped by Ron Westcott, scored a 7-5 win over British Columbia in the other semifinal.
The championship is being played in Whitehorse, Yukon.
The Northern Ontario women, skipped by Marion Clark, finished 3-5 and missed the playoffs.
