Willianen, Keating Jr. run away with Better Ball title

While Graeme McDowell was busy capturing his first U.S. Open title on Father’s Day, Walter Keating Jr. and Mark Willianen were creating their own magic on the golf course.
While Graeme McDowell was busy capturing his first U.S. Open title on Father’s Day, Walter Keating Jr.  and Mark Willianen were creating their own magic on the golf course.

The duo shot a 10-under 60 at Chapples on Sunday to easily capture the 2010 Mallon’s Play It Again Better Ball Championship by seven strokes.

Keating, a former Canadian Tour player, and Willianen. The 1983 Strathcona Invitational champion, beat out two-time defending title-holders Barry Caland and Joe Scharf, who shot 65 on Sunday after a four-under 68 on Saturday at Strathcona Golf Club.

Robert Cumming and Dave Joubert finished third at 134, tied with Andrew Scavarellis and Aaron Pakylak.

Robbie and Ryan Untinen rounded out the top five at 135.
