THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves volleyball team will have to wait at least another night to pick up their first win of the regular season.

The Thunderwolves sqaundered a two set lead falling in five (24-26, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23, 15-6) to the McMaster Marauders at the Thunderdome on Friday night.

Lakehead was rolling early, overcoming an early 6-0 deficit in the first set to outlast the Marauders to draw first blood.

The Thunderwolves carried that momentum into the second set, rolling the whole way to sit just 25 points away from the win.

McMaster responded with a resounding third set victory, before squeaking out the fourth set after the two sides were tied at 23.

That momentum was too much to battle back from, with McMaster finishing off the comeback in the fifth.

Lakehead setter Vanessa Masters had 34 assists while powers Jen Casey and Kailan Robinson finished with 18 and 11 kills respectively.

The two teams will square off again on Saturday at the Thunderdome with the match scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
