Yet another weekend split has dropped the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad out of the CIS top 10.

Yet another weekend split has dropped the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad out of the CIS top 10.

The men’s basketball team, which lost for the second time in three outings in their Friday home opener, escaped a similar fate, but slipped to ninth in the nation.

The hockey Wolves (8-4-2) finished tied for 10th with Toronto, but the Varsity Blues were given the higher ranking because of a greater number of higher-placed votes.

The Wolves wrap up first-half play at home this weekend when the Windsor Lancers invade Fort William Gardens for games on Friday and Saturday night.

The basketball Wolves (1-2) hit the road for the nation’s capital this weekend, where they will take on No. 1 Carleton and unranked Ottawa.
