The Lakehead Thunderwolves have added to an already beefy recruiting class.

Former Owen Sound Attack stay-at-home defenceman Jay Gilbert confirmed on Twitter that he’s committed to play in Thunder Bay this fall.

Gilbert, who turns 21 next week, spent five seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, split between Niagara Falls, Plymouth and Owen Sound.

The Port Stanley, Ont. native scored 10 goals and added 23 assists for the Attack in 2011-12, his most productive during his lengthy major junior career.

“Looking forward to getting started up there in a few weeks,” the six-foot-2, 203-pound Gilbert tweeted.
