Luke Cain is the recruit who got away.
The 25-year-old Thunder Bay forward, one of several high-profile newcomers the Lakehead Thunderwolves landed in the offseason, has instead chosen to play for the University of Manitoba Bisons in 2012-13.
Lakehead coach Joel Scherban on Tuesday confirmed Cain's decision.
Cain, an NCAA transfer from Union College, has two years of CIS eligbility left. He had 15 goals and 29 points in 87 NCAA contests.
The Wolves kick off training camp on Tuesday afternoon at the Tournament Centre.
