Wolves open with hockey loss

There were plenty of new faces in the lineup for the Lakehead Thunderwolves, but the result didn’t change from the last time fans packed Fort William Gardens to watch them play.

There were plenty of new faces in the lineup for the Lakehead Thunderwolves, but the result didn’t change from the last time fans packed Fort William Gardens to watch them play.

Trevor Gamache scored a shorthanded goal to even the score 1-1 five minutes into the second period, but it was all UQTR after that, as the Patriotes rolled over the Wolves 5-2 to kick off OUA pre-season play on Friday night.

Ryan McDonald scored the only other Lakehead goal on the night.

Marc-Andre Laroche netted a pair for UQTR, with singles going to Felix Lafrancois, Charles Bety and Felix Petit.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
