LONDON, Ont. – A pair of Callum Fryer goals two minutes apart in the third earned the Lakehead Thunderwolves a valuable point on Saturday night.

However Cordell James spoiled LU’s shot at the win, scoring with two seconds to go in overtime to deliver a 3-2 win for the host Western Mustangs.

Lakehead concluded its three-game road trip with a 1-1-1 record and sit alone in seventh place in the OUA West with 27 points and an 11-10-5 record.

Ray Huether opened the scoring for Western at 4:15 of the second, beating Wolves goalie Devin Green. Mitchell Fitzmorris doubled the Mustangs lead 6:34 into the third, but Fryer picked the ideal time to pick up his first two tallies of the season, firing pucks past Luke Peresinni at 12:21 and exactly two minutes later at 14:21 to send the game to overtime.

The Wolves, four points up on eighth, return home to finish regular-season play next Friday and Saturday night against Waterloo and Laurier.
