Wolves women swept by Badgers

The Lakehead Thunderwolves have destiny in their own hands, but they didn't do themselves any favours this weekend.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves have destiny in their own hands, but they didn't do themselves any favours this weekend.

The Wolves (9-11) dropped a second straight decision on Saturday to the Brock Badgers, 78-55, while the Guelph Gryphons beat McMaster 76-68 to climb into a sixth-place tie in the OUA  West.

The Gryphons and Wolves will tangle at the Thunderdome next weekend; a pair of wins would guarantee the winner a playoff spot.
A split would come down to most points scored in the two games, although if Western were to lose to McMaster and Windsor, the Wolves would get in even if they didn't win the tiebreaker with Guelph. Lakehead swept Western earlier this season.

On Saturday the Thunderwolves just never got it going against the second-place Badgers, a team they took to overtime the night before.

Brock, which opened a 15-12 lead after 10 minutes, dominated the second quarter, putting up 29 points to Lakehead's 15 and led 44-27 at the half.

Lindsay Dreury was the Thunderwolves top scorer on the night, netting 18 points and grabbing 14 boards for the double-double. Carolyn Fragale and Kelsey Bardsley had 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Badgers were led by a pair of 14-point performances from Kayla Santilli and Nicole Rosenkranz.
