Two wins against ranked opponents aren’t enough to jump the Lakehead Thunderwolves into the women’s basketball national rankings.
Lakehead (3-1) fell just outside the top-10 of the latest edition of the CIS rankings, which were released Tuesday, after coming off a weekend split against the No. 7 McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.
The Thunderwolves earned honourable mention in the rankings with 113 points. That puts them as the top team on the outside looking in, trailing the No. 10 Queen’s Golden Gaels who have 148 points.
Lakehead opened the season with a home win against Queen’s.
The Thunderwolves will face their toughest test of the season on Saturday when they host the No. 1 Windsor Lancers (4-0) at the Thunderdome.
