Mr. Albert Haapaniemi (Niemi) passed away on July 14th, 2023. Son of Kosti Haapaniemi (died June 1960) and Ester Letinen (died May 15, 1996). Albert was also predeceased by his brother Harold (August 16th, 2020). He is survived by his sister-in-law Carole Niemi and her two daughters Lorri (Ed) Currie and family, Linda (Dave) Hirvela and family. Albert was born and raised in Port Arthur on Dufferin Street and went to the local schools and graduated from PACI High School. He continued his education for several years at Lakehead University. This was his one love, education. He had many jobs as a labourer here and in BC for some years, until he semi retired and worked at Roaches Taxi until his retirement. He was a quiet individual who loved being on his own. Although once you did get him talking, he became very talkative. He loved fishing, going for coffee and food at his favourite coffee house on Memorial Avenue where he would chat up with friends. His most favourite place for him was his camp at Cummins Lake. There it was his home all summer long. He will be missed by his family and friends. As per his wishes he will be cremated and donations to your favourite charity would be greatly appreciated. Private interment will follow.
