It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Aldo Fata. Aldo lost his courageous battle with brain cancer at home with his loving family by his side on Monday, September 24, 2018. He was born in Aiello Calabro, Cosenza on November 16, 1959 and immigrated to Thunder Bay in 1967 with his family. He married the love of his life Rose in 1985 and had three beautiful children, Enzo, Stefanie, and Alyssa. In 1988, Aldo and his brother, Joe, continued running the family business, Fata Paving, that their father started in 1974.

Aldo’s family meant everything to him. He spent most of his time around family, especially with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. His beautiful smile and loving personality drew everyone around him. He spent countless hours working on many projects in the garage, as he was able to fix anything that needed fixing. He was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. He was the most generous, kind, and caring man in our lives. One of his favourite pastimes were singing along to the tunes of Rod Stewart, and Little Tony, and dancing along with his cheerful personality. Later in his life, he developed a love for traveling with his family, where many amazing memories were made that we will cherish forever.

Aldo will be remembered by his loving wife Rose of 33 years, his children Enzo (Summer) Fata, Stefanie Fata (Chris Collins), Alyssa (Pat) Jakubowski, his grandchildren, Mykaela and Owen Fata, Mason Fata-McCall and Mila Collins, his siblings, Joe (Marlene) Fata, Isabella (Vince) Lombardo, Palmira (Vince) Racco, Maurizia (Mike) Arno, father-in-law Luigi Ambrose, and sister-in-laws, Libby Ambrose (John), Anna Grenier, Pina (Peter) Cloidt, Joanna England, Julie (Jeff) Saunders, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Aldo was predeceased by his parents Ortenzia and Fiorenzo Fata, mother-in-law Gina Ambrose, brother-in-law Dennis Grenier, and numerous aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses of VON, with special thanks to Lucia and Tia, Geri from Bayshore, Dr. Kathy Simpson, and Donald Hutchinson for the exceptional care and compassion that they provided for Aldo and the family.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 leaving the Harbourview Funeral Centre at 10:30 a.m. to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, for the Funeral Mass to be celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini beginning at 11:00 a.m. Private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, with vigil prayers at 7:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
