It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike, 74 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on February 6, 2017 with family by his side.

Mike was born on February 17, 1942, in Malito, Province of Cosenza, Italy.  He was the middle of three children.   He came to Canada in 1957, arriving in Thunder Bay at the age of 15. He began working at CP Rail and The Hydro Company.

In 1980, Mike moved his family back to Thunder Bay where he worked at the Manitoba Elevators Pool 3 for approximately 10 years.

Mike was fond of gardening, hunting and especially helping others.  He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Mike was a very generous and kind-hearted man who enjoyed making others laugh.  He was a member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur where he enjoyed playing his favourite card game Scuppa.  Mike was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan as well as a Juventus Soccer fan.  Every 4 years you could find Mike seated on the edge of his couch cheering for Team Italia during the FIFA World Cup playoffs.  He was a Senior member of St. Anthony Rectory where he played cards and volunteered his time to the church.

Mike will be sadly missed by his wife Pina; children Norma Genova, Tony (Joyce) Ferrari, Luisa (Lorne) Belisle and Rosy (Johnny) Vintimilla; grandchildren Michelle & Juliana Genova, Michael, Josee, Jenna & Sydney Ferrari, Mike & Maria Vintimilla; brother Carmelo (Marissa) Ferrari; brother-in-law Rocco (Rosemarie) Larizza, and sister-in-law Bruna (Giulio) Frattaroli.   Numerous nieces & nephews and other relatives also survive.
