On July 15, 2018 Alice Baran passed away surrounded by family at her home at Pinewood Court in Thunder Bay. Alice was born in Sifton, Manitoba and spent her formative years on her family’s farm. Alice had many fond memories of this time in her life which she loved to share with others.

She spent her adult life in Thunder Bay and along with her husband Len raised five children. A dedicated wife and mother, Alice also returned to her career as a banker. She was a mortgage and loans officer, and a specialist supporting seniors for the Royal Bank. A keystone of Alice’s life was her Catholic faith. At the end of every phone call she would always say, “God bless”. She was a parishioner of St. Agnes Church for 54 years, and a long standing member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Alice was an incredible cook and baker. Often growing the vegetables herself in the back yard garden, she would make the most delicious soups. Pies were also a specialty, along with homemade chocolates and perogies. Alice was extremely organized and hard working in everything she did. As a home maker she excelled. With extremely high standards she created a beautiful home environment, with a minimalist flair. One of the greatest attributes Alice possessed was the loving care she not only bestowed on her family but everyone she knew. She always took the time to listen and truly care about the details of each person’s life that she encountered on a daily basis.

Alice will be deeply missed by her children Deborah, Jeff (Rosanne), Barbara, Don (MaryLynn), and Dave (Suzanne); her grandchildren Eric (Reiko), Nicole (Scott), Courtney (Pat), Luke, Ben, Simon (Alex), Jason, Brian, Alexandra and Megan; her great grandchildren Ozzy, Miro and Isaak; her brothers Ernie (Lil), Larry (Louise) and sister Rosaline (Richard). She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Len, her parents Nick and Jessie, her sister Olga, and her son in law Toivo.

Alice’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ruby Klassen and the staff of Blue Heron for the compassionate care that Alice received during her time at Pinewood Court. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, 12:10 pm, St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church - 1019 Brown Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Your prayers for Alice and her family will be greatly appreciated.
