On Friday morning September 23, 2022 at the age of 92 the Lord called home our beloved Mother Alice Jaspers.

Alice is survived by 12 children, daughter Fredericka Ploegman (Peter†) of Winnipeg, grandchildren Angela Ploegman (husband Suresh Kattragadda) of Iowa, Shannon Smith (Ted†), Kevin (wife Christy), Nolan (wife Rachel) all of Winnipeg. Daughter Minnie. Son Fritz (wife Theresa), grandchildren Bryce (wife Sabrina) of Hamilton, Ashley, Ryan (wife Amanda), Devin (wife Kara) of Medicine Hat, Kristen (husband Rob) Mol. Daughter Ina (husband Art) Staal, grandchildren Wesley (wife Shea), Myles† (Melinda), Darryl (wife Kristy), Bradley (wife Morgan), Kayla (husband Bobby-Jay) Bolt. Son Harry (wife Karen), grandchildren Shawn (wife Julie), Jason (Nicole) of Denmark, Nathan (wife Shelby), Travis (wife Samantha). Daughter Alice (husband Blair) Lutz of Winnipeg, grandchildren Jordan (wife Cayle), Jared (wife Ayla), Jenna all of Winnipeg, Jody (husband Richard) Borden of Vancouver. Daughter Faye (husband Dick) Dykstra, grandchildren Kurt (wife Alyson), Vanessa (husband Kevin) VanTol of Hamilton, Craig of Winnipeg. Daughter Susan (husband Gerald) Dykstra, grandchildren Sabrina (husband Mark) Bolt, Dale, Lyndon. Daughter Edna (husband Gerald) Steendam of Winnipeg, grandchildren Kyle (wife Christine), Melissa (husband Kevin) Prins, Evan, Andrew (wife Anna) all of Winnipeg, Sheela (husband Dean) Borst of Carman, Aaron (fiancé Rylie) of Winnipeg. Son Llyod (wife Sharon), grandchildren Brayden (wife Tessa) of Winnipeg, Kara (husband Matt) Schmidt. Daughter Lucy Westervelt (Martin†), grandchildren Tyler (wife Lillian), Stacie (husband Joel) Jenninga, Owen (wife Brittany), Miranda (husband Allan) Vanderpol all of Winnipeg. Son Ronnie (wife Cheryl), grandchildren Alisa (husband Mark) Hainrich, Alex (wife Lindsey). Also, eighty-eight (88) Great Grandchildren. Sister Dina Cramer, Brother Gerrit (wife Lena) Breukelman. Fritz Breukelman, Ben (wife Ann) Breukelman, Sister Tini (husband Hans) Bontius all of Southern Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Herman Jaspers in 2003, her parents Mina and Frederik Breukelman, sister Miena, sister Sien Veurink, brother Egbert Breukelman, and granddaughter in infancy.


Born in Ommen the Netherlands on October 13, 1929. Married to Herman Jaspers in 1950 they immigrated to Canada in 1954 with three children, Fredericka, Minnie and Fritz. They were blessed with nine more children. They lived in Murillo from 1954 to 1961, then moved to Slate River where they enjoyed many years of farming and raising their family. Moms’ greatest passion was raising their children in the fear of the Lord. She was an active member of the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay. Throughout her life she served the Lord through her family and the church.

Visitation will be held at the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay (23 – Highway 130) from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday September 28, 2022. Funeral procession will leave the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay at 10:30 am on Thursday September 29, 2022 for interment at Stanley Hill Cemetery to be followed by a memorial Service at 12:00 pm at the United Reformed Church of Thunder Bay.
