It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Alice McDonald on July 7th 2015 at the age of 88.   Alice was born in Westfort October 3rd 1926, the daughter of Peter and Josephine Zyri. Alice started her career with Canada Car at an early age.  She was one of the famous Rosie the

Riveters.  She then moved on to bell telephone as an operator for 35 years.  During that time she met her husband John C McDonald and they had three children.  

Alice lived on Bolton Crescent for 50 years before residing at Sister Lila Greco for the past 2 ½ years. Alice loved to walk, shop and travel.  She loved her make up, clothes and Jewelry.  Everyone knew when Alice walked in.  She loved her family dearly and enjoyed her many visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.  

Alice loved her pastry, and enjoyed living at Sister Lila Greco,  where the staff made her feel quite at home. Alice is survived by her three children John (Deb), Maureen McCallum (Ken), Robert (Melissa).   Grandchildren Heather (Darryl), Kerri (Dan), Joshua (Theresa), Christopher (Jess) and great granddaughter Emily.   She is also survived by sister in law Mary Graham, and nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her parents, by her husband John C McDonald,  her brothers Adam, Tony and Morris and her sisters Virginia and Gloria. 

A celebration of Alice’s Life will be held at the DaVinci Centre Friday July 10th from 3-5 pm. Visitation for friends and family will be on Thursday July 9th between 6-8pm at the Blake Funeral Chapel.

A private interment service will take place in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers; Donations to St Josephs Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Alice McDonald will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
