Mrs. Alice Wilson, aged 96 years of Thunder Bay passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on August 8, 2021. Alice was born April 11,1925 in Herbert, Saskatchewan to Ann and Peter Rempel. Alice married Frederick Donald Wilson in Kenora, Ontario on September 10, 1949. Alice spent her early years working in Manitoba and Kenora, later moving to Hamilton and then Thunder Bay. For many of her last years she was a resident of Manion Court Seniors’ Apartments.

Alice’s primary interests were her children, her home, reading and her faith. She was also gifted quilter, crocheter, knitter and sewer. She was extremely humble about her life and her talents. Alice was a kind and loyal friend to all she met and a selfless mother to her children. For many years she actively volunteered at the George Jeffrey Children’s Center, Shelter House, The 55 Plus Centre, The Thunder Bay Literacy Group and the Westfort Baptist Church. Alice lived her faith daily in all she did and said.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her siblings Harry Rempel, Lillian Hatle, Ruth Atkins, Betty Jerome, and her son-in-law Stirling Halvorsen.

Alice will be greatly missed by her family: sons, Richard (Devona Crowe) and David: daughters, Audrey Halvorsen and Carrie Romanec (John), nephew, Clifford Hatle: grandchildren, Sara, Tim and Luke Romanec, Kate Burns, David Halvorsen (Amy) and Kathy Cooper (Russ): great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Noah Burns Ahtila (Kari Wilson); Callum Halvorsen (Kat Isenor), Nicole, Laura and Evan Cooper: great-great grandchild, Niiko Halvorsen.

Alice will be deeply missed by her sisters: Susan Smith, Leona LeMasurier: her brothers John, and Richard Rempel: her sisters-in-law Betty Manning, Jeanne Lisenchuk (Jack), Margaret Wilson, Barbara (Jimmy) Mete, and brother-in-law Gerald (Shirley) Hinds. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends will miss Alice’s calm, accepting and quiet manner.

A private family internment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome to attend an Open House to celebrate Alice’s life on Tuesday, August 17 from 3:30-6 pm at Richard Wilson and Devona Crowe’s home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Underground Gym, The RFDA, Shelter House or a charity of your choice.
