It is with heavy hearts that the family of Allan Conchie announce his passing at TBRHSC on June 20, 2022 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 8, 1945 in Dumfries, Scotland, he immigrated to Canada with his parents (Annie & Jimmy Conchie) and sister (Iris), in 1957. The family eventually settled in Fort William where he made many lifelong friends, including his high school sweetheart and wife Leone Watson.

Al was passionate about cars, tech and was an avid outdoorsman. After retiring from a long career as locomotive engineer for CP Rail, he spent much of his time at their Bass Lake camp, wintering in Florida and Arizona, and reconnecting with his Scottish relatives.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, sons Kristian (Lorette, MB) and Nathan (Vancouver, BC), sister and close cousin Carol Main.

The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the amazing palliative care provided at the Regional Cancer Care Northwest, especially Dr. Ward and Dr. Simpson for their kindness and clarity.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation to begin an hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the TBRHSF Northern Cancer Fund.
