Alli Parkkari

Posted

Mrs. Alli Anneli Parkkari (nee. Morsky), age 72 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side in St. Joseph's Care Group on Monday, May 10, 2010.

Alli was born in Kakisalmi, Finland on May 25, 1937. She resided in the cities of Mikkeli and Helsinki before immigrating to Canada in 1967. She married Teuvo Parkkari in March of 1971 . Until spring of that same year, Alli worked as a seamstress at Tee-Kay. She decided her most important job was to be "mom" especially after her second child was born. In 1981, Alli decided to return to work and attained a full-time position at Sears Canada in the maintenance department. In December 1991, ill health forced her into early retirement.

Alli was a fantastic, caring person who worked hard to take care of her family and others, often putting her own needs aside. Alli was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and swimming. Alli was an animal lover and spent countless hours enjoying the company of her faithful companion, Nopo the cat.

Alli is survived by her two daughters, Nina Parkkari of Thunder Bay and Nancy Parkkari (Timo Heikkila) of Vantaa, Finland plus her two grandchildren Jesse and Julia. She is also survived by twin sister Raija, brother Raimo, niece Auli and nephew Pasi all of Sweden.

Alli is predeceased by her husband Teuvo (2007) and her parents Hilma and Paavo Morsky.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Alli Parkkari will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Pastor Jari Lahtinen of Hilldale Luthern Church officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.

Alli's family would like to express a sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Care Group for their wonderful care of our dearest Alli.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in memory of Alli donations be made to the St. Joseph's Care Group.
