It is with deep sadness that the family of Angelina Francine Fern Meekis, age 41 years of Sandy Lake First Nation, announces her passing peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1983 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Angelina is survived by her son Gabriel Kakapetum and grandson Arlo Kakepetum; son Mervin Meekis and grandson Ezekiel Meekis; son Phoenix Meekis and grandson Dean Meekis; her mother Nora Jane Meekis, brothers Jared Meekis, Scott Meekis and sister Sagabun; father Larry Rae, brother Freedom Kemble and sister Roslyn Kemble. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her grandparents who raised her, Fraser Sr. And Adelaide Meekis, and aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
A Wake Service will be held in Thunder Bay from 12:30pm until 2:30pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
Angelina will then be taken home to Sandy Lake First Nation, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 1:00pm in the Adam Fiddler United Church, officiated by Rev. Zack Kakegamik and Bart Meekis. Interment will follow in the Community Cemetery.
