Mr. Aniello Montanaro, age 68 years, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Aniello was born October 25, 1953 in Visciano, Napoli, Italy. Immigrating to Canada as a child with his family and growing up in Fort William. He met Antonietta LaManna in his hometown of Visciano, Napoli and they were married in 1980. Making Thunder Bay their home and raising their three children. Aniello was a dedicated family man, loving and supporting them in his quiet, gentle way. Most recently, he became a proud Nonno to his twin grandsons, Aniello and Antonio. 

He was employed as a Foreman with Lakehead Freightways (now, Manitoulin Transport), retiring after 35 years of service. In 2000 Aniello and Antonietta went into business as the owners of Club Cappuccino. He loved greeting and chatting with his customers and enjoying a coffee on the patio. His favourite pastimes were talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs and all sports with his son in-law Robert, listening to his rock music and playing with his Cat, Sylvester. 

Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Antonietta; beloved children, Josie, Joanna (Robert Lamot) and Salvatore “Sam” and cherished grandsons, Aniello and Antonio; siblings, Emilio (Kim), Anna (Tony) Marchese and Lucy (Eric) Stephens as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends in Canada and Italy.

Predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Giuseppina and parents-in-law Sebastiano and Giovanna LaManna.

Thank you to the TBRHSC Doctors and Nurses for all of the care and compassion shown to our family over the last year. Especially Dr.'s Franchi, Gamble, Silverberg and the entire Renal department staff.

Funeral Services for the late Mr. Aniello Montanaro will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 with family and friends gathering in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10:30amcelebrated by Fr. Micheal Mahoney and Fr. James Panikulam. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 Gore Street at James.
