Mrs. Anja Budzyk (nee Korpi) passed peacefully in her sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospice after a brief illness on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the age of 87.
Anja was born and raised in Nipigon, Ontario where she met the love of her life. She enjoyed many summers and gatherings with family and friends at their camp at Pike Lake. In the later years, she enjoyed monthly trips to Grand Portage.
Anja is survived by her husband of 64 years, Stan; children: Ken (Sherry), Chris (Christine), all of Thunder Bay, ON; granddaughter Jessica Budzyk of Terrace, B.C.; great-grandchildren: Serafina and Jaxon; brother Pentti Korpi of Terrace, B.C.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Sakari and Elisabet Korpi; in-laws John and Warwara Budzyk; and sister Eila Ruoho (Korpi).
A memorial service for Anja will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association.
