Anna Pylypchuk, age 96, passed away peacefully at St Josephs Hospital on February 17, 2018 with her family by her side.

Anna was born in Belarus on Feb. 7, 1922. She met her husband Peter during the Second World War. They moved to Canada in 1949 with their son John.  Anna always spoke of how grateful she was to live in Canada. Anna and Peter often spoke of the great times they had with their friends in the Ukrainian community, going fishing, family picnics, and dances and concerts at the Ukrainian Hall.  Baba was an amazing cook. Whatever she made always had a secret ingredient in it. Her grandchildren always commented,'' no-one could make cheesecake like their Baba". Anna loved her vegetable garden and her flowers. She always made sure we had plenty of fresh vegetables. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Her home was a place where family gathered often. Baba always looked forward to her visits from her grandson Jeff, his wife Andrea and their children Anders and Maeve, her granddaughter Genevieve, her husband Dallyn and their children Emerson and Liam.  They were the joy of her life. We are so thankful Baba had such caring neighbours, especially Carmen and Karen Carlucci who always watched over her.  Anna spent many evenings chatting with her best friend Katerina Kolysnik who lived close by. They reminisced of the great times they shared over the years.  They were so lucky to have each other. We would like to thank Dr. Miller, Melora from N.W.LHIN and the P.S.W’s from Para Med.  Because of you Baba was able to stay in her home which she built along side her husband Peter.

Anna is lovingly remembered by her son John (Sandra), grandson Jeff (Andrea), granddaughter Genevieve (Dallyn).  She will be greatly missed by her great grandchildren Anders, Maeve, Emerson and Liam, her niece Mary, nephew Adam (Elizabeth), and their children and niece Tess Murton of Australia.

Anna was predeceased by her husband Peter. If friends desire, donations can be made to the TBRHSC-Northern Cancer Fund, or the charity of your choice.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Blake Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m..  Prayers will be on Wednesday evening at the Blake Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Stepan Didur from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Holy Cross.
