It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anne Boyes, age 97, on Monday, January 29th, 2018 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Anne was the first born daughter of John and Elizabeth Rusnak in Winnipeg, Manitoba, November 18th, 1920. The family eventually moved to Kashabowie, Ontario where her father worked for the railroad and Anne helped her mother cook, clean and care for her younger siblings.

Anne worked at Canada Car during the war and then married her childhood sweetheart, Ernest Boyes in 1946, enjoying 63 years of marriage.‎ They spent wonderful years at the Boyes family homestead on Shebandowan Lake, boating, gardening and having large family get-togethers.

Throughout the year, Anne's dinners were a warm and welcoming affair, especially at Christmas when the table would be beautifully decorated and extend all the way into the livingroom with an abundance of good Ukrainian foods for the family she loved. She also had a green thumb for plants and flowers, drawing them as a child and nurturing them around the home 'Ernie' built on Alder Avenue, back when there were only wild roses in behind the bungalow at the edge of town. She loved animals and had many pets over the years, helping many disadvantaged along the way and passed that love onto her children.‎ Ernie and Anne travelled after he retired from the Provincial Paper ‎Mill, to Hawaii, to Duluth, Minnesota to visit family and from Halifax to Vancouver and every place in between.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest on October 7th, 2009‎, her beloved son Kenneth on November 24th, 2017, brother George (Eunice), sister Mary (Walter) and brother William (Linda). She will be forever missed by daughter Sharon, granddaughter Quillane (Ed) Halstead, daughter-in-law Debby, granddaughter Brooke (Jeff) Robinson, brother Mike (Margie), sister Olga and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A loving thank you to staff at 2N, Hogarth Riverview and Dawson Court for their immeasurable warmth and care of Anne over the last several years. And to her friend Charlotte, a helpful companion to Anne‎ at the manor.

A Celebration of Life for Anne will be held Sunday, February 4th from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre.

If so desired, donations may be made in Anne's memory to Paws for Love Thunder Bay, or any animal charity of your choice.
