Mrs. Anne Caban, age 89 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at home on September 20, 2016.

Anne was born in Canora, SK to John and Mary (Cheredaryk) Chabun on August 5, 1927 and was the 3rd of 16 children.

Anne moved to Port Arthur, ON in 1945 to start her career.  There, she met and married Nicholas Caban on January 18, 1947 and they celebrated 60 wonderful years together.

She was a major partner with Vicki-Ann restaurant for over 13 years.  With her exceptional culinary skills, home-cooked meals and warm personality, she drew loyal customers near and far.

Upon a well-earned retirement, Nick and Anne spent their winters in Palm Springs, CA for 24 years, where they enjoyed playing tennis, golf and entertaining family and friends.  She also had fun doing jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, and playing cards.  She got great pleasure out of sharing her infamous perogies, cabbage rolls and cinnamon buns with many others.

Anne will be lovingly remembered by daughters Barbara (Robert) Bruce and Shirley (Duffy) Wilson; grandchildren Daryl (Melanie) Bruce, Tanis (Doug) Boardman, Susan (Jamie) Pretty, and Jennifer (Clinton) Begin; great-grandchildren Courtney and Chelsey Bruce; Ben Pretty; Cameron, Myles, Jack and Sean Begin; and baby Boardman on the way.

Anne was pre-deceased by husband Nick in September 2007, as well as her parents and numerous siblings.

Nothing gave Anne greater joy than spending time with her family, friends, and kind-hearted neighbours.

She appreciated all the support from them over the years.  Her generous, nurturing, and light-heartedness will always be remembered by those who knew her.

Her beautiful soul will hold a special place in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services for Anne will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Rev. Joyce Yanishewski.

Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Anne's memory to the charity of your choice.
