It is with heavy hearts, the family announce the peaceful passing of Anne (Annabella) Eveline Hill-Dekker (nee Peterson) on the morning of March 9, 2017.

Anne was born March 3, 1938 in Port Arthur and spent much of her childhood in Cameron Falls. She married her first husband Earl Patrick Hill in March 1959 and had 4 children with him. She was predeceased by him in December 1979 and went on to remarry Jim Dekker in June of 1988.

Having lived her entire adult life in Thunder Bay, she went on to spend her retired years travelling through the US in the winter months with her husband. She loved the warm weather on her skin, tending to her garden and spending time with her family. She took up many hobbies, and loved to try her hand at new knitting patterns, arts and crafts, crocheting and playing with her kitten Kayla.

Anne was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband Jim Dekker, sister Betty Roussel (Gaetan), children Luana Petzschler (Ollie), Trice Longstreet, Tami Thomas (Donny) and Colin Hill (Nicole), grandchildren Alana, Colin, and Christopher, and great-grandchildren Claire and Nicholas. Anne also had numerous step children, step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and "adopted" family all over Canada and US.

She was predeceased by her parents Hilma (1988) and Arthur (1987) Peterson, as well as her first husband Earl.

Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at TBRHSC - 2B and the palliative care at St. Joseph’s Hospital for making her last days as comfortable as can be. Their compassion will not be forgotten.

Cremation will take place on March 13, and a celebration of life will follow at a later date when family and friends will be able to gather together in her garden and enjoy a warm, sunny day as she would have liked.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choosing.
