Anthony Melideo
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Anthony John Melideo, announce his unexpected passing on April 17, 2021, at the age of 48, while doing something he loved.

Anthony was born on August 3, 1972 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He worked as a Project Manager for Manshield Construction, until his MS took over and then he became a stay-at-home dad. He loved fishing, camping, taekwondo, spending time with his family and friends, playing crib with his children, and we cannot forget the Philadelphia Flyers.

Anthony’s love for the outdoors took him and his family to Dog Lake for a few summers now. He loved being there with his “camp family”. He could often be found yelling at people to “slow down” or spending time on his boat. If there was a fire going, you would most likely find him there, even if it was 3am. Anthony always had a good story to tell or one to be told about him after a night around the fire. Our fondest memory of him at camp would have to be the time he went out in the middle of the night and upon coming in was trying to call the dogs in. They were already in bed. To this day we wonder what he was calling in, but the good news is, he had both his shoes on while he doing it.

He is lovingly missed and survived by his wife, Melissa (aka Stinky), and his “tax dependents" Cole and Quynn (who were his pride and joy), his loving “outlaws”, Michael & Rochelle O’Flaherty, and brothers and sisters in law and their loving children. He is also very missed by his two day time companions and nap mates, Berkley (aka white dog) and Finley (aka black dog). He is also survived by his mother, Bonnie; his sister, Kerri-Ann (Terry) and her children. He was predeceased by his father, Antonio.

Those of us who knew Anthony knew that he took great pride in being a father and would do anything for his family and his “extended friend and camp families”. He was always there to lend a hand or take someone fishing to try and avoid doing the things his wife needed him to do. Telling her that while he was out, she may as well “Go make me a sammich.”

You had better not mention you wanted something built around him, because he would be pricing it out and come up with an idea on how to build it before you could even process what was happening.

Dressed in his Philly Jersey with a special cap on his head, holding onto special items from both of his children, cremation has taken place. Due to current gathering restrictions, a celebration of Anthony’s life will be held privately for family on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre presided by Fr. Jerin Louis at 2:00 p.m. Please visit www.harbourviewfuneral.ca to view the services live, or you may watch at a later time as it will be archived on the same site.

It has been requested by his children that donations be made in his honour to any of the local animal shelters/rescue organizations, or to help the homeless community.

Happy Fishbowl Friday my Carnie kids, put your purse down and raise a glass to the life of an amazing man. Drink up Sally!
