After a joyful and fulfilled life, and weeks before his 96th birthday, it is with great sadness that the family of Anton Kolic announces his passing on August 25, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with his family by his side.

Born on September 11, 1921 in Podumol, Karlovac, Croatia to Franjo and Dora Kolic, Anton immigrated to Canada in 1957 and made Current River, Thunder Bay, his home, in hopes of making a better life for his family. While in Canada, he worked at Abitibi Forest Products, in the bush camps for 3 three years to save enough money to bring his family to Canada. He later was employed at Provincial Papers, where he retired after 20 years in 1986. He was known to be a hardworking man both at work and at home.

Anton was so passionate about life. He loved gardening, making and drinking wine, building and construction. He had a fondness for animals too, especially birds and his two dogs Brutus and Buddy. But most importantly, he loved his family. Anton had an unprecedented love for his children and his grandchildren. He was very proud of his family and of all their accomplishments, and he always did everything he could to lend them a helping hand.

Anton was a member of the Croatian Home Association and a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church. He would attend mass every Sunday and would look forward to seeing all the people there.

Anton was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara (1982), his parents, Franjo and Dora, five brothers, three sisters, one child in infancy (Slavko), grandson, Anthony James (Little Tony) Kolic, mother-in-law Franca Tomasic, sister in law Marica Stamicar and other family in Croatia. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Katica Kolic of Switzerland, sons Ivan (Barbara), Joe, Victor, Tony (Lisa) Kolic, and daughter Mary (Sandy) Nucci. Anton will also be missed by his grandchildren, of whom he cherished: John (Rosetta), Christina (Mark) Brassard, Josh and Joy (Kolic), Mario and Elizabeth (Nucci), Devin, Nicole and Cody (Kolic), and great grandchildren Chelsey and Thomas (Brassard) and Luka and Gabriella (Kolic), as well as niece Danica (Ivan) Secen, brother in law Stephan Stamicar, nephew Steven (Ivanka) Stamicar and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Croatia. We all miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Home 9:45 am to Our Lady of Loretto R.C. Church 290 Grenville Avenue for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 am, celebrated by Rev. Francis Pudicherry. Entombment to follow in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Current River Recreation Centre. Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with a Vigil Prayer Service being offered at 7:00 pm. Should friends desire memorial donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or the Our Lady of Loretto Church Elevator Fund would be appreciated.
