Antonietta Nadin

Antonietta was born on September 12, 1933 in Ranzano, Pordenone, Italy. She left her homeland in 1954 to join her husband Livio, sister Santina, and brother in law Virginio in Fort William, Canada in hopes of finding a better life. After settling in their new home, Totti and Livio started their family with the birth of their only son Louis. Eight years into their journey, her sister Santina passed away and her new home grew to include her brother in law Virginio, and his four children. All together they became an inseparable family.

Antonietta took great pride in gathering her family at her table and cooking incredible meals everyday. From card nights, to bridal showers, Alpini picnics, and Annual Harvest parties, Antonietta hosted many memorable events for her family and friends. For Antonietta, it was all about getting together and enjoying life to the fullest. Not only was she the hostess, but she was the life of the party with her beautiful singing voice and Italian folk songs. One of her greatest joys was singing with the Alpini choir where she made many lasting friendships. Antonietta was the true vision of elegance, with a glowing presence that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She always made time for things she loved to do such as tending to her vegetable garden and vibrant flower beds, or even picking blueberries and wild mushrooms every fall, which would always lead to an extravagant meal. For Antonietta, there was nothing more important than watching her family and grandchildren grow. She was the biggest supporter and took great pride in watching her kids dance, sing, and play hockey, and she was especially proud of her boys for developing their successful business by being the first secretary of Nadin Contracting. She was guided by a strong sense of loyalty and duty to those around her and never hesitated to sacrifice her own needs for others.

Antonietta will be remembered and missed by her loving son Louis, daughter in law Fiorella, and her grandchildren Dustin and Leah (Domenico). She will be lovingly missed by her nieces and nephews: Norman (Kim); Clara; Anna (Tony); and Maureen, and special nieces and nephews who she loved as her own grandchildren Megan, Mitchell, Dylan, Andrew (Kaitlyn), Shevaun (Edouard), Sheena (Dave), Ariel (Mahel), Aaron (Andrea), and her great nieces and nephews Allie, Rory, Callie, Lucas, and Isaac.

Antonietta will be reunited with her loving husband Livio, her parents Tiziano and Maria Bressan, sisters Santina and Emma, and brother-in-law Virginio. She was also predeceased by her special nephews Guido Nadin and Mark Antoniazzi, and numerous family members in Canada and Italy.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff from 2 North at St. Joseph’s Care Group who all knew her as Nonna. The family really appreciated your support and care.
