Mr. Antonio Figueira, age 91 years, passed away on December 20, 2017, in Hogarth Riverview Manor. 

Antonio was born in Madeira, Portugal on April 13, 1926. He immigrated to Montreal in 1969 and shortly after moved to Thunder Bay to work for Abitibi Woodlands.

Antonio's greatest joy was being surrounded by his beautiful family at every opportunity as all could see by his wonderful smile and beaming pride. He also enjoyed travelling back to his homeland of Portugal and entertaining family and friends by playing his mandolin, accordion, and brinquinho a traditional instrument of Madeira. 

Antonio is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria; seven children: Eugenia (Mario Baptista), Helena (Manuel Neves), Maria, Nazare (Antonio Arruda), Ana (Luis Martins), Margarida, Jose (Patricia); twelve grandchildren: Mario (Ana), Manuel (Clara), Elizabeth (Tony), Irene, Miguel (Catarina), Chana, Andre (Robyn), Dinis, Alicia (Mitchell), Katrina, Samantha, Amber; five great grandchildren: Enrique, Mercedes, Lucas, Beatriz, Mayla; sister Maria Figueira; nieces: Natalia, Rosa, São, Sofia and Elsa; nephew João; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
He is predeceased by his parents Antonio Figueira, Maria Ascenção Martins Figueira and brother Jose Martins Figueira.

Visitation for the family and friends of Mr. Antonio Figueira will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 123 Hilldale Road, presided by Rev. Luigi Filippini. Interment to follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery. 

If friends so desire, donations in Antonio’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
