It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Antonio Gabrielo Rapino on Sunday, Sept 18, 2022 with family by his side.  Antonio was born on Oct 29,1930 in Fort William to Rose and Justino Rapino.  He married the love of his life, Stella, on Feb 7,1953.  She pre-deceased him on Oct 8,2019.  They raised 3 beautiful children together.

Tony had numerous jobs from the age of 10: paperboy, shoe shiner, setting pins at the bowling alley, pouring cement sidewalks throughout Port Arthur, surveying with his brother-in-law John Prystanki, and Olgivie's Elevators, finally settling at Canadian Pacific Railway from Sept 6, 1948 and retiring Mar 1,1987.

Dad did a lot of volunteering over the years, St Elizabeth's Church, charity bingos, Christmas Cheer, West Thunder Community Center (past president) to name a few. He was also a life long member of the Knights Of Columbus.

Dad enjoyed fishing, especially his annual trips with his son, Tony Jr, to Pakaskan Lodge every May.  He also loved his annual family fishing trips to Raleigh Lake every September.  Dad enjoyed partridge hunting and taking his hawk-eye wife, Stella, with him to spot the birds. He had a knack for whittling knives or carving birds while working on the CPR to Ignace to pass the time.  He loved the family camp at Oliver Lake for over 61 years with life long friends Edna & Jim Jarvis.

In retirement , Dad and Mom travelled to different places throughout Canada and the United States, enjoying most of all their winters in Florida.  He enjoyed a good card game, especially playing euchre and cribbage at West Thunder weekly.  He rode his bike everyday visiting friends and family along his way.

Dad's passion was his garden.  He shared his bounty with family and friends and the neighborhood, dropping off veggies and dill to Dew Drop Inn and bringing dill to George's Market.

Tony is survived by his daughters, Merina Toppozini (Michael Sr), Beverly and his son Tony Jr(Helen).  Six grandchildren: Michael Toppozini Jr(Caroline Piche), Christina Toppozini(Jon Gauthier), Martia Cicalo(Kurtis), Seija Rapino, Alissa Robinson(Ryan) and Kellie Rapino.  Seven great-grandchildren: Callie Toppozini, Natalya Gauthier, Kaia and Emmett Cicalo, and Emily, Claira and Lillian Robinson.  Also survived by sisters Dolores Thompson(George), Loretta Comrie, Helen Medwick and brother Jim(Rose), and numerous other family members.

He was predeceased by his wife Stella, parents and siblings Laura, Mary, Gracie and Jacqueline.

A mass will be held on Thursday Sept 22,2022 at 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth's Church. A private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Tony's memory to Northern Cancer Research would be greatly appreciated or a charity of choice.
